Drilling Hydraulics Analysis of Extended Reach Well


Overview

DrillExpert Hydraulics is a software of drilling hydraulics analysis for extended reach well, which provides accurate model for calculating circulation pressure loss, wellbore pressure profile, drilling hydraulics parameters, and which could be used to pre-drilling design, real-time drilling monitor and post-drilling analysis for extended reach well, directional well, horizontal well and multi-lateral well.

Key Functions

  1. Pre-drilling hydraulics design
    The software has established theoretical minimum and maximum flow rate models based on Non-Newtonian multi-flow model, cuttings carrying capacity of vertical section, inclined section and horizontal section of wellbore, hydraulic power limit and drilling fluid density window, which could be used to design hydraulics parameter of drilling extended reach well under different optimized objects, drilling parameter, hydraulic power, mud property, flow rate and bit nozzle.
  2. Real-time drilling hydraulics monitor
    Real-time drilling hydraulics analysis has been provided to simulate the distribution of annular pressure, drilling fluid density, ECD and cuttings bed, and calculate theoretical minimum flowback rate and flow rate etc.
  3. Hydraulics analysis
    Based on pre-drilling design and real-time monitoring result, comparison analysis of different hydraulics parameter assembles could easily been done for reducing drilling risk:
    • Hydraulics parameter: mud property, ECD, circulation pressure loss, cuttings bed distribution and height, theoretical minimum and maximum flow rate, wave pressure, power limit and well flushing time.
    • Drilling parameter: drilling fluid density, flow rate, viscosity, drilling speed and drill pipe rotary.
    • Wellbore cleanness: excellent, good, fair, poor.
